Scanned PDFs (images of text without a text layer) need to be processed with OCR first. Use WhiskFile's OCR PDF tool to make the text extractable, then upload the OCR'd PDF to AI Chat.

Yes. Your document text is processed in memory during the session and never stored permanently. It is not used to train AI models. The file is deleted from WhiskFile servers within 1 hour of upload.

The AI references page numbers from your document's text layer. Citations are based on the extracted text structure and are generally accurate for text-based PDFs. For best results, ensure your PDF has a proper text layer (not just scanned images).

Yes. Click the download icon in the chat header to export your entire conversation as a Markdown file. You can also copy individual AI responses using the copy button below each message.

WhiskFile supports PDFs up to 500 pages. The AI extracts and indexes all text for comprehensive question answering. Very long documents work well — the AI uses page-level indexing to find relevant sections quickly.

No. The AI is grounded in your document content only. It answers based on what your PDF actually says and provides page citations so you can verify every response. If the answer isn't in the document, it will tell you.

Currently, AI Chat works with one PDF per session. For multi-document analysis, upload each PDF separately. We're working on multi-PDF support for a future update.
