Como extrair imagens de um arquivo PDF
Extraia todas as imagens de um arquivo PDF e baixe-as como JPG ou PNG. Este guia aborda dois métodos, dependendo do que você realmente precisa.
There are two completely different things people mean when they say "extract images from a PDF," and the right tool depends on which one you need:
-
Pull out the embedded image files — get the actual original photos/graphics that were placed into the PDF when it was created. These come out at the original quality and resolution.
-
Convert PDF pages to images — render each page as a JPG or PNG. This captures everything on the page (text + graphics + layout) as a flat image.
Use Method 1 (Extract Images) for: recovering original photos from a PDF, getting images to reuse in other documents, pulling product photos from a catalog PDF.
Use Method 2 (PDF to JPG) for: creating page screenshots, making a PDF viewable as images in a web gallery, archiving pages visually.
Method 1: Extract Embedded Images
The Extract Images from PDF tool pulls out the original image files that were embedded when the PDF was created. These are the actual source images — not re-rendered versions — so quality is as high as the original.
How to use it:
- Go to the Extract Images from PDF tool.
- Upload your PDF.
- Click Extract.
- Download the ZIP file containing the extracted images.
What you get:
- JPG files for photos (most common)
- PNG files for graphics with transparency
- Sometimes TIFF or other formats for professional/print PDFs
- One file per image embedded in the PDF
Important limitations:
- Only extracts images that were embedded in the PDF. If the PDF was created by scanning a physical document, the whole page is one image — extraction gives you the full-page scan, not individual elements.
- Vector graphics (illustrations, logos, charts created in Illustrator or similar) are not images and cannot be extracted this way. They are mathematical path descriptions.
- If an image appears multiple times on different pages (like a repeated header logo), it may only be extracted once — the PDF stores it once and references it multiple times.
Method 2: Convert Pages to Images (PDF to JPG)
If you want every page rendered as an image file — including all text, layout, and graphics — use the PDF to JPG tool instead.
- Go to the PDF to JPG tool.
- Upload your PDF.
- Choose resolution (150 DPI for screen, 300 DPI for print quality).
- Download the ZIP of page images.
This produces one JPG (or PNG) per page, capturing the complete visual content of each page exactly as it appears in the PDF.
Which Method Gives Better Image Quality?
Extract Images from PDF:
- Produces the original embedded image, so quality matches whatever was put into the PDF
- If the author embedded a 4000×3000 pixel photo, you get a 4000×3000 pixel image
- If the author downsampled images before creating the PDF (common for web PDFs), you get the downsampled version
PDF to JPG:
- Quality depends on the DPI you choose
- At 300 DPI on an A4 page, you get approximately 2480×3508 pixels
- The entire page is rendered, so text, watermarks, and page borders are included
For photos embedded in a print catalog or brochure PDF, extraction usually gives higher quality than page rendering because you get the pre-downsampled original. For photos in a web-optimized PDF, the difference is minimal.
What If the PDF Has No Extractable Images?
If the extraction produces no files, or only produces the full page as a single image, the PDF is likely:
- A scanned document — the entire page was photographed and placed as one image. Extract Images will give you the full-page scan. To extract individual elements, you'd need to crop the image manually after extraction.
- A text-only PDF — no embedded images, only text and vector shapes.
- A vector-graphic PDF — charts, diagrams, and illustrations are stored as vectors (paths), not as raster images.
In these cases, PDF to JPG is the better approach — it renders everything visible on the page as a flat image.
Quick Answers
Can I extract a specific image from one page only? The tool extracts all images from all pages. If you only need a specific image, extract all, then select the one you want from the downloaded ZIP.
Will extracted images have text watermarks on them? If a watermark was applied as a text/vector overlay on top of the image in the PDF, it may or may not appear in the extracted image. If the watermark was baked into the original image file before it was placed in the PDF, it will appear in the extraction.
Can I extract images from a password-protected PDF? Remove the password first with the Unlock PDF tool, then extract images.
What if I need the image in a specific format (TIFF, WebP)? Extract Images gives you the images in whatever format they were stored in the PDF. To convert to a specific format, use an image converter on the extracted files.
