PDF กับ Word (DOCX) — ควรใช้รูปแบบใดและเมื่อใด

A PDF describes exactly where each word, image, and element appears on the page — in absolute coordinates. Open a PDF on any device, any screen size, and it will look identical. This is by design: PDF is short for Portable Document Format.

A Word DOCX file describes content and structure — paragraphs, headings, lists — but leaves the exact layout to the viewing software and device. The same document can look slightly different in Word 2010 vs Word 365 vs Google Docs, especially with complex formatting.

Use PDF when the final visual appearance must be preserved:

- **Contracts and legal documents** — layout and page numbers must match what was signed - **Financial reports and annual reports** — formatting must be consistent across all readers - **Print-ready files** — PDFs embed fonts and colour profiles for consistent printing - **Forms for external distribution** — fillable PDF forms work across all platforms without requiring Word - **Documents you don't want edited** — password-protect or flatten PDFs to prevent modification - **Email attachments** — PDFs open reliably on any device without needing Word installed

Use DOCX when the content needs to change:

- **Drafts and work-in-progress** — tracked changes, comments, and revision history - **Templates** — documents that will be filled with different content each time - **Collaborative writing** — multiple people editing simultaneously in Google Docs or SharePoint - **Content extraction** — when the text will be imported into another system - **Accessibility editing** — adding alt text, changing headings, and reformatting for screen readers - **Documents that will be re-exported** — if you'll export to PDF later, start in DOCX

**PDF to Word:** Use the WhiskFile PDF to Word converter. For text-based PDFs, accuracy is very high. For scanned PDFs, enable OCR for text recognition.

**Word to PDF:** Use the WhiskFile Word to PDF converter, or in Word, use File → Save As → PDF. The WhiskFile converter produces consistent results regardless of your Word version or OS.

Note: Converting back and forth between PDF and DOCX is lossy for complex layouts. Complex tables, multi-column layouts, and text boxes may not perfectly round-trip through both directions of conversion.
